CryEngine3 Environment and Monuments

Final Monuments and Environment

Pathways

The addition of the helicopter to the monument was vital. It provided the path for architectural computing students to gather at the monument site. As architectural computing students spend most of their times on computers or electronic devices it came to mind that a good way to get them to the site would be by a mechanical object such as a helicopter.

This valley was the main path of Architecture Students. It was surrounded by trees and originated from the main maintains of the island. This provided a link between the two and allowed the architecture students to encounter and walk through the natural surroundings along the way, hopefully providing helpful ideas for future projects.

This land bridge created a small connection between the main island and peninsula that the monuments are erected on. It provides the path for the Archiectural Engineering Students as it would be an area of expertise that they would focus on, building things that solve a problem or need.

The Two Concepts

Tadao Ando 2. The rectangular geometrical properties of the façade give a sense of volume and space, by interweaving the interior and exterior spaces through complex three dimensional circulation paths.

Walter Burley Griffin 3. Group of buildings faced one another to give that sense of separation and administrative zones.

Interconnected Pairs

Tadao Ando 2 + Walter Burley Griffin 1: "The rectangular geometrical properties of the façade give a sense of volume and space, making use of the natural environments geometry."

Tadao Ando 1 + Walter Burley Griffin 2: "The use of light creates a sense of exterior light penetrating the interior but preserves access to views of the bush land being sensitive to the environment."

Tadao Ando 4 + Walter Burley Griffin 3: "Group of buildings that face one another providing a private aspect, primarily for the individual."

 Sketches of 6 Concepts

Tadao Ando 1. The use of light is evident in Ando’s architecture, creating a sense of exterior light penetrating the interior.

Tadao Ando 2. The rectangular geometrical properties of the façade give a sense of volume and space, by interweaving the interior and exterior spaces through complex three dimensional circulation paths.

Tadao Ando 4. The private aspect of Ando’s architecture focuses upon providing an enclosed area, primarily for the individual unaffected by external factors.

Walter Burley Griffin 1. Designing with nature---preserving access to and views of native bush land and being sensitive to natural features such as escarpments, creeks, rocky outcrops and established trees.

Walter Burley Griffin 2. Geometry—making use of the natural environments geometry in designing the planning of both Canberra and Castlecrag.

Walter Burley Griffin 3. Group of buildings faced one another to give that sense of separation and administrative zones.
